What are the best private student loan consolidation companies?

By admin | November 24, 2011

irishman1 asked:

I am getting ready to pay back my Sallie Mae student loans and they are expecting me to pay approximately $500 per month for my private loan. The only other alternative they gave me for a lower monthly payment was the Interest Only option, which I have heard is a horrible choice. Given today’s economic condition and the difficulty of college graduates finding jobs, I don’t know how they can expect people like myself to pay $500 per month. Are there any private consolidation companies out there right now that can significantly lower my monthly payment?

Thank you!

I need to get a loan to be able to go back to college, however neither of my parents have any credit and I can not find a co-signer. This means I’m on my own and I unfortunately do not have much credit. What is the easiest, personal or student, loan to be approved for without a co-signer? Thanks a lot!

What happens if I get a student loan here in the States and then decide to transfer overseas ?

By admin | November 15, 2011

TJ A asked:

I want to study at the Western Visayas State University in Iloilo, Philippines, but no bank wants to give me a student loan to do that. What would happen if I enrolled at a university or college here in the States and then transferred over to the Philippines? Would I have to start paying off the student loan immediately or would I be allowed to wait until I finished my schooling in the Philippines first?

I should mention I already have the max on all the federal stuff, and this is for a past due balance from last year.

By admin | October 26, 2011

Al asked:

I am currently a graduate student. I have a few unsubsidized student loans that are still in deferment. Should I be able to deduct the interest that is accumulating on the loan now, or am I only able to count that when I am actually makign payments on the student loan?

Can you deduct interest from student loan payments on your tax return?

By admin | October 24, 2011

BTown asked:

I understand that it is possible to make a deduction from your taxable income from interest paid on qualifying student loans.

I believe I qualify for this, as I have been paying on my student loans for some time now. However, how do I go about showing this? I don’t recall getting any particular form from my student loan lender. I have statements, but I believe they just show the payments that I’ve made, and not how much has gone towards principal and interest, etc.

Can I request a form, or is there another way to go about doing this?

What is the variable student loan interest rate forecast for the foreseeable future during a depression?

By admin | October 2, 2011

booboo asked:

What is the variable student loan interest rate forecast for the foreseeable future during a depression WITH high inflation?

Currently it is 1%-3%
Hyperinflation could set at the rate the government is printing money.

We are in a depression. It will not end in 2010. It may be the beginning of the end. Trillions in debt will not go away overnight.

Why would student loan interest lessen your refund?

By admin | September 19, 2011

brockhan asked:

42k gross this last year. If I input the student loan interest I paid along with wages/income, my refund is $13.

If I do not include the student loan interest paid, I get $340.

Usually when I add in the student loan interest to my return, then my refund goes from $350 or so to between $700-800. Any reason that this year it takes that much away, but before it doubled it?

The only difference between this year and the last was I got a 2nd job.

How can i restart a student loan and get it out of collections?

By admin | September 8, 2011

!@mommy to gwen@! asked:

I had a student loan 4 years ago that went to collections. I want to start paying on it. I heard that there is a ONE shot chance of restarting my payments status of my loan. It will go out of collections and resume like it never went default. Is this true? Can i make minimum payments on the loan and be able to go back to college?
